Pendulum
CR 058
New York
1964
Oil on irregular, shaped canvas
40 x 84 (irregular) inches
collection of D Braux, Houston
While clearly a skydiver with his parachute beginning to deploy [Pendulum] has prominent abstract qualities. The figure is more generalised and symmetrical, and the shape of the canvas has its own agenda, creating a paradox between it and the image painted on it. It is well on the way to complete abstraction.
