This work has a capability of being realised as something more than ‘private’ sculpture. It has a potential for scale, an inner architectural character. All this gives it an iconic quality, obviously suggestive of Egyptian sculpture, although the ambiguity of its shape, not apparent at first sight, might have pleased late Antiquity better.
